Golf: Walker and Dwyer take top spot in PGA Centenary Foursomes
Dundalk professional Leslie Walker and Finian Dwyer from Celbridge Driving
Range dovetailed perfectly at St Margaret's yesterday to take top spot in
the PGA Centenary Foursomes Irish Qualifying section and book their place in
the final at Little Aston on October 16 and 17.
Two pairs won through to the final with Morgan O'Donovan (Harbour Point) and
David O'Sullivan (St Margaret's) the other Irish qualifiers on 73 - four
shots behind Walker and Dwyer who carded a four-birdie, one bogey
three-under-69.
The leaders birdies flew at the long 5th and 8th holes on the way out and
they penciled in a three at the par four 11th before their only mistake was
made at the short 13th. That, however, was balanced with yet another birdie
four, this time at the 16th hole.
Qualifiers:
69 (-3) - L Walker (Dundalk) & F Dwyer (Celbridge).
73 - M O'Donovan (Harbour Pt) & D O'Sullivan (St Margaret's).
