American David Oakley made a move today in the second round of the British Seniors' Open Championship at Royal County Down, carding a three-under-par 68 to be four-under-par for his two rounds.

American David Oakley made a move today in the second round of the British Seniors' Open Championship at Royal County Down, carding a three-under-par 68 to be four-under-par for his two rounds.

Oakley, from Orlando, was runner-up in '96 at Royal Portrush and today made seven birdies in his round to be the clubhouse leader.

However, John Bland, the overnight joint leader with Denis Durnien, eagled the first hole today and was five-under after 20 holes.

Durnien had slipped back with a bogey at the 2nd to drop to two under.

With two holes to play Ian Stanley from Australia was four-under.with three birdies recorded.

Jack Nickl;aus, one of the short-priced candidates, has begun his second round with two birdies to move to three-under after his opening 70.

Kenny Stevenson who was joint best Irishman with Paul Leonard last night has finished with his second 73 to be two over for the tournament at the halfway stage.
