Argentinian Ricardo Gonzalez has surged to the top of the leaderboard on Day Two of the Dutch Open at Noordwijkse.

The South American, with four top-10 finishes on the European Tour this year, replaced amateur Niels Boysen at the summit with the Dutchman slipping back to six under following bogeys at the fourth and sixth.

Gonzalez did drop a shot with a bogey at the par four 14th but offered a response with two further birdies to reclaim a two-stroke lead over the field at 10 under.

In all Gonzalez birdied six, bogeyed two but an eagle three at the 502-yard 11th helped him to take over at the top.

Meanwhile, one of Europe’s Ryder Cup certainties, Padraig Harrington made a good start to the day.

Harrington, four under overnight, picked up four further shots in his first 11 holes to pressurise the leading pack.
