European Open: Clarke and Harrington poised to make late charge

Just four strokes cover the leading nine players in the £2.6m Smurfit European Open at the K Club as the final 91 competitors play the last round in wet conditions.

One stroke ahead of the pack is Mikael Lundberg from Sweden who is 12 under par.

Amongst the chasing group are Padraig Harrington and Darren Clarke.

Harrington is 10 under with Clarke nine under, both of them well-placed to make a late charge for victory.

The only other Irishmen to make the cut were Damian McGrane and Eamon Darcy.

Both were among the earlier starters today.

After nine holes played, Damian McGrane is two over par. Darcy is one under, having made a birdie at the fourth hole.

The leaders go out around 2pm.
