Colin Montgomerie lost both his magic and his lead when the Murphy’s Irish Open went into its second round today at Fota Island near Cork.

Two clear overnight after his dazzling opening 63, Montgomerie had been overtaken by Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn as he managed only one over par for the back nine.
