Golf: Davies edges ahead at Rochester
Britain’s Laura Davies fired a second successive four-under-par 68 to secure a halfway lead at the Rochester International in New York.
The 38-year-old from Coventry, who has been woefully out of sorts this season, heads Brandie Burton by one stroke after the American added a 69 to her opening-day 68.
But she admits that there is still a long way to go in the tournament, saying: ‘‘I won’t be disappointed if I end up out of it. I thought I’d be going home tonight to London, so everything is a bonus at the moment.
‘‘My problem is that I stand on the tee and look at trouble instead of looking at the middle of the fairway.
‘‘So I’m not expecting too much this weekend because I know what I’m thinking and where I’m looking.
Kim Saiki (69), Maria Hjorth (71), Danielle Ammaccapane (71) and Laura Diaz (72) are a further four shots back in joint third.
