English Open Golf: First ace for Van the man

Van Phillips found a spectacular way of jumping into the lead in the Compass Group English Open at the Forest of Arden today.

Phillips bogeyed the first, but got the shot back at the long third. It was now a four-way tie at the top, however, with Rystrom, South African Jean Hugo and Watford’s Warren Bennett, who birdied the second, seventh and ninth.
