Golf: Dynasty Cup set to be launched

The Dynasty Cup, an Asian version of the Ryder Cup, will be inaugurated in Thailand next year with Japan taking on the rest of Asia.

The Dynasty Cup, an Asian version of the Ryder Cup, will be inaugurated in Thailand next year with Japan taking on the rest of Asia.

The first Dynasty Cup will be staged at the Blue Canyon country club on the island of Phuket from March 29-31.

The Dynasty Cup will be held once every two years and Japan will host the second meeting in 2004.

The Japanese team will consist of the top-10 players on the Japan Golf Tour Organisation money-list along with two players chosen by the captain.

Their opponents will be the top-eight players on the Asian PGA Tour money rankings with another four chosen by the captain.

Veteran Japanese pro Isao Aoki will captain the Japanese team and Taiwan's Hsieh Min-nan will lead the Asian side.
