Golf: Smyth best placed of Irish

In the Madeira Island Open, Des Smyth is best placed of the Irish after a second round 70.

He is now in fourth place on eight under par, four shots behind the leader, Niclas Fasth.

Of the other Irish players in the field, Paddy Gribben and Philip Walton are both on three under par, while Gary Murphy finished the day on three over par.
