Golf: Walton among leaders at Madeira Open

Ireland's Philip Walton is tied for the lead at the end of day one of the Madeira Island Open.

Walton is on five under after a round of 67, alongside Sweden's Kalle Brink,

Englishman John Bickerton and Hank Kuehne of the US.

Des Smyth is keeping in touch with the leaders with a four under round, while Paddy Gribben and Gary Murphy shot two under and one under respectively.
