Gary Hurley earns Palmer Cup call-up again

Currently Ireland’s highest-ranked amateur golfer, Gary Hurley will be flying the flag for Irish golf once again this summer as a member of the 2015 European Palmer Cup team.

Gary Hurley earns Palmer Cup call-up again

Hurley, ranked 33rd in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, has been selected to compete for Europe against the USA in the June 12-14 event, to be staged at Rich Harvest Farms outside Chicago. The West Waterford golfer, a third-year Paddy Harrington scholar at NUI Maynooth, earned his place on the 2013 European Palmer Cup team after winning the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament at St.Andrews. It meant he became the first Irish-based college player to compete on the European Team, an achievement in which NUIM rightly took much pride.

His latest selection makes Hurley the first European player to have been selected twice for the college version of the Ryder Cup, named in honour of Arnold Palmer. Hurley’s club, too, are extremely proud of his achievements.
