Ilonen in Ryder Cup reckoning

Ryder Cup watch; Irish Open winner Mikko Ilonen has put himself in the Ryder Cup conversation thanks to his stress-free, wire-to-wire victory at Fota Island.

The €333,300 top prize has boosted his position in both Ryder Cup tables, which will be updated today.

But while he will still be 1.3 million points outside the top five on the European Ryder Cup Points List and more than 70 world ranking points short on the World Points List, the 34-year old has some big events to look forward to this summer.
