McDowell spells it out

If Graeme McDowell had his way this week’s PGA Tour’s flagship Players Championship would return to being an event on the ‘Florida Swing’.

It is now five years since PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem was instrumental in moving the €7.2m event from a March date, and a virtual curtain-raiser two weeks prior to the Masters, to a month after the season’s first Major Championship.

That decision has somewhat backfired on Finchem and definitely this week with three greens out-of-bounds for practice ahead of the event.
