That is the way director of golf Kevin Morris sees it as work begins to lengthen the host of the 2001 and 2002 tournament to provide a similar test on a more mature course for the modern game’s longer hitters.

“It’s a very different golf course to the one that was there 12 years ago, with the trees having closed and so on,” Morris told the Irish Examiner. “There is work to be done, just to let the golf course play as it would have 12 years ago, just to get that length back, because these guys are hitting the ball that much further.
