Furyk hits magical 59

Jim Furyk hit a magical 59 as he surged into contention on day two of the BMW Championship in Illinois last night.

Starting from the 10th, the 2003 US Open champion played the back nine in 28 and kept up his charge after the turn hitting a birdie on the last for only the sixth sub-60 round in PGA Tour history.

Eight-time Ryder Cup player Furyk hit 11 birdies and an eagle in his round.He joined Al Geiberger, Chip Beck, David Duval, Paul Goydos and Stuart Appleby as the only players to shoot 59 on the PGA Tour.
