Maguire misses Euro medal

Lisa Maguire narrowly missed out on a medal in the European Ladies Amateur Championship in Finland at the weekend.

Maguire misses Euro medal

The Slieve Russell teenager continued to produce steady golf over the Aura course in Turku and finished with a one over par 72 for a 72-hole aggregate of 284 — level par — to be a mere two strokes outside the medal placings.

The Irish international was eight strokes adrift of new champion Emily Pedersen of Denmark but Maguire whose twin sister Leona failed to make the three round cut, can feel pleased with the way she performed in a high-quality field. In her closing 72, the 18-year-old had three bogeys — at 5,6 and 17 — and birdies at 8 and 16 and 13 pars.
