Top Algarve resort unveils golf-all-you-want packages

Algarve golf market leaders Oceânico have rolled out details of enticing golf-all-you-want packages with accommodation at their five-star class Amendoeira Golf Resort.

There are eyebrow-raising elements to the offer which will secure it separation from similar offers around the Iberian peninsula and make it particularly attractive for Irish golfers who know which aisle to shop in.

First is the resort — the Oceânico Faldo Course and the Oceânico O’Connor Jnr are part of a magnificent 560-acre village-type development which oozes class, from the courses to the clubhouse to the high-end lodgings which are an Oceanico trademark throughout their resort portfolio in Portugal.

Secondly it’s pitched at high-season September and October golfers and is not, as one might presume, a bid to fill courses over the quieter summer months, when the heat drives sane dogs and Irishmen to the clubhouse.

The Unlimited Golf Package for Amendoeira was announced yesterday and kicks in September 1, 2013, from just €230 per person for three nights. Five and seven night breaks are also being rolled out.

The packages include accommodation in a two-bedroom apartment, buffet breakfast each morning at the splendidly-appointed clubhouse, a round also on the nine-hole, par three Oceânico Academy course, free buggies, use of the Amendoeira Sports Club facilities (much beloved of Premier League and other European football glitterati), and 50% discount on golf shoe rental.

Oceânico holds the whip hand on golf in the Algarve with five courses in the Vilamoura area, including the European Tour favourite, Oceânico Victoria and the sublime Oceânico Old Course. One of these can be added to the roster for an additional €35 per person, which isn’t a lot for the time of the season and the unlimited package also includes one free upgrade to Oceânico Laguna, Oceânico Millennium and Oceânico Pinhal.

Prices are as follows, based on four people sharing a two-bedroom apartment: For November and December 2013 and January & February 2014, three-nights comes in at €230 per person, five nights at €445 per person and seven nights at €560 per person per package.

For September 2013 (and 2014) and May, June, July & August of next year it’s €265 for a three-night stay, €515 for five nights and €650 for seven.

High season prices for the unlimited golf offer are still excellent: For October 2013 (and 2014) and March, April 2014, three nights at Amendoeira is €295, five nights is €575 and seven nights is €725.

Prices are also available for two golfers who share a two-bedroom apartment with the use of one bedroom only, with a three-night stay in November & December 2013 and January and February 2014 costing €270 per person per package.

Buffet breakfast is served daily in the main clubhouse, which also serves an All Day Menu in the restaurant and bar, lounge area or on the outside terrace. The greenside spike bar continues to be a favourite before sundown and a new add is a clubhouse stock of household goods such as bread, milk, suncream and toiletries.
