McIlroy returns to Haiti on UNICEF trip

Rory McIlroy is set to return to Haiti next week.

It will be McIlroy’s second humanitarian trip as a UNICEF Ireland Ambassador since visiting the earthquake ravaged island in June 2011.

Back then, McIlroy went to Haiti visiting newly-built schools, a maternal centre and camps for displaced people, just weeks after his infamous US Masters meltdown in Augusta. The Co Down man then defied sceptics to win a first Major, the 2011 US Open by eight shots.
