Kinsale ready for finals flurry

Kinsale Golf Club will continue its centenary celebrations in the grandest style this week when it hosts the Golfing Union of Ireland’s National Finals of the Cups and Shields, sponsored by Chartis Insurance.

Twenty teams from Ireland’s four provinces will converge on the Co. Cork golf course at Farrangalway as the host club look to step out of the shadow of their illustrious neighbour at the Old Head.

“This is something we’ve looked for, for a number of years and we’re delighted that the GUI awarded it to us for our centenary,” Kinsale GC captain Barry McCarthy said. “It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the place and let the people know that there’s another golf course in Kinsale.”
