As the final day dawned at Augusta, there must have been a palpable sense of frustration amongst spectators and media alike that the final day showdown between Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy had failed to materialise.

Yesterday, the pair were little more than a sideshow, a warm-up act before the main event.

What we have learned from this year’s Masters is that Woods is no longer the golfing force he once was. He may well be still capable of winning tournaments, but he no longer possesses the intimidating aura of years gone by.
