Pádraig: I must bring ‘A’ game to big events

PÁDRAIG HARRINGTON admits “the Ryder Cup won’t happen for me” unless he plays well in key events.

Harrington, who competes in this week’s Barclays Singapore Open, has decided to add the UBS Hong Kong Open to his schedule as he looks to secure his place in the season-ending Dubai World Championship.

Harrington said: “Last week was the first WGC I did not play in and that was disappointing, as they have been running close to 12 years. I need to start performing but I just have to be patient as I know there will be good times ahead.”

The 40-year old is 14 spots shy of qualifying for Dubai. “I will now play three tournaments and will need one big finish. I am mindful if I don’t get into the world events it is very difficult for me to get into the Ryder Cup.
