THE butt was on the other foot as far as Big Break winner Ryann O’Toole was concerned at Killeen Castle but US captain Rosie Jones had words of comfort for her heartbroken rookie.

A month ago, O’Toole celebrated her captain’s pick for the Solheim Cup by declaring: “I’m looking forward to going over there and kicking some European butt.”

Those words came back to haunt the 24-year-old from California yesterday as she let a two-hole lead slip against Euro rookie Caroline Hedwall and conceded the decisive half-point of the 2011 Solheim Cup. O’Toole sobbed uncontrollably as the European celebrations broke out all around her on the 18th green and Jones was quick to comfort her surprise pick.
