Rory learning true price of superstardom

RORY MCILROY was a star long before he set foot on Augusta National this year but when you need security guards to patrol your back garden at night for fear of stalkers, you know you’ve reached the celebrity stratosphere.

The Holywood youngster revealed in Akron last week that his life has been turned upside down since he bounced back from his Masters meltdown and then became a worldwide sporting icon when he captured the US Open by eight shots at Congressional just seven weeks ago.

Add to that his whirlwind romance with Danish tennis beauty Caroline Wozniacki and it’s no wonder he’s keen to escape the spotlight and move to the US next season.
