Fisher withdraws to be with his ill son

RYDER CUP player Ross Fisher has withdrawn from this week’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational to stay with his wife and their ill three-month-old son Harry.

Fisher withdraws to be with his ill son

Fisher’s defence of the Irish Open title last week took a back seat when the baby was taken to hospital in Killarney on Saturday night. The 30-year-old father-of-two returned to play the final round, but fell from fifth to 17th place with a closing round of 73 and immediately headed back to the hospital.

Manager Conor Ridge said yesterday Fisher’s son was being kept in until Friday. “Harry should be fine – it looks like it’s just precautionary,” he added.
