Bulmers end sponsorship of GUI competitions

THE Golfing Union of Ireland has begun the search for a new sponsor of their Irish Cups and Shields competitions after Bulmers ended their 19-year association with the competitions.

In that time, the company’s name became synonymous with the Senior and Junior Cups, Barton Shield and Jimmy Bruen and Pierce Purcell Shields.

GUI President Eugene Fayne said, “We are sad to have such a fruitful relationship come to an end. The marketing team at Bulmers saw an opportunity to grow their brand using golf as a platform and the success of this sponsorship can be seen across Ireland as Bulmers is now a leading brand in its industry. We are seeking a new sponsor for the cups and shields, and hopefully given the wonderful results achieved by Bulmers, it should not be long before a new name becomes synonymous with the All Ireland Cups and Shields.”
