Clarke joins Clinton for dinner

THERE was a G20 golfing summit in Singapore on Thursday night with four-times Major winner, Phil Mickelson along with Darren Clarke, invited to share dinner with former US President Bill Clinton.

Golf-mad Clinton was in Singapore as guest speaker at a Barclays hosted economic summit, which is also prime sponsors of this week’s co-sanctioned Barclays Singapore Open.

Both Mickelson and Clarke are sponsored by Barclays and they joined European Tour chief executive, George O’Grady along with Barclays Bob Diamond and Irish-born Patrick O’Riordan at an exclusive Singapore restaurant.

Mickelson had earlier posted a four-under par 67 while Clarke a five-under par 66 on a first day of the $6m event delayed by just over four hours to thunderstorms.
