Jimenez earns monthly shot accolade

MIGUEL Angel Jimenez has won the European Tour’s Shot of the Month award for July for his escape from beside the wall behind the 17th green during The Open at St Andrews.

With his back to the green, Jimenez rebounded the ball off the wall and onto the putting surface.

Second-place went to Louis Oosthuizen for his 40-foot eagle putt at the ninth en route to winning his first major, and third was Rory McIlroy’s approach to three feet on his way to an opening 63.
