ARGENTINA’S Ricardo Gonzalez leads the Open de España after day one following a round of 66 at the Real Club de Sevilla with a one-shot advantage over England’s Paul Waring who completed his day in 67 shots.

Damien McGrane shot six birdies to end his round on four under and leads the Irish challenge overnight.

Having reached the half way in 33 shots, McGrane finished the back nine in one under and is tied for third, alongside another eight players who all carded 68 shots in Sevilla, two of which, Rafa Enchenique of Argentina and Alvaro Quiros of Spain, signed for eagles on the 16th.
