Paddy Power taking punt on Tiger

BOOKMAKER PaddyPower.com has entered discussions concerning a five-year sponsorship deal with Tiger Woods.

Woods has not played this year and recently apologised for the sex scandal which has turned his life upside down.

The company’s proposal would see an initial $5 million (€3.6m) paid for the use of Woods’ likeness annually while incentives of $1m (€730,000) for winning a US major and $2m for winning The Open would be offered.

Paddy Power said: “We’re in negotiations with IMG to sponsor Tiger. It’s still in the early stage of the negotiations “It’s going to be, if it all comes off, the biggest sponsor-ship deal we have ever done.”
