SERGIO GARCIA insisted yesterday he will again be doing what suits him next year — even if Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie would prefer him to be somewhere else.

Garcia has not played in the European Tour’s flagship PGA Championship at Wentworth since 2000, but Montgomerie has said: “I feel every European that is qualified for that event should be playing and I will be asking for that in my role.”

He is also keen for them to appear at Celtic Manor in the Wales Open, an event Garcia has never played, so they are familiar with the course before Ryder Cup week.
