Castletroy chase double in Tralee

CASTLETROY go in search of an elusive double when they contest the semi-finals and finals of the Munster section of the Bulmers Irish Senior Cup and Barton Shield at Tralee over the weekend.

The programme gets under way on Saturday when Cahir Park meet Tralee in the semi-final of the Senior Cup and Castletroy take on Cork with the final fixed for that afternoon.

The Barton Shield commands pride of place on Sunday when Castletroy go into semi-final action against Thurles while Doneraile and Lee Valley contest the second “semi”.

In the Irish Junior Cup, which will also be played to a finish on Sunday, Glengarriff meet Clonmel and Shannon play Muskerry.

Muskerry and Woodstock have already qualified for the national finals of the Jimmy Bruen and Pierce Purecell Shields to be played at Shandon Park, Belfast, on September 12th-15th.

Tralee programme: Saturday: Bulmers Irish Senior Cup semi-finals, 9am, Cahir Park v Tralee; 9.45, Castletroy v Cork. Final, 3pm

Sunday: Barton Shield semi-finals, 9am, Thurles v Castletroy; 9.20, Doneraile v Lee Valley.

Final, 2.30. Irish Junior Cup semi-finals (10th tee), 8.30, Glengarriff v Clonmel; 9.15, Shannon v Muskerry. Final, 3pm.
