Woods to design first course

TIGER WOODS will design his first US golf course in North Carolina, Golf Magazine reported, citing a person familiar with the situation it didn’t identify.

Woods, the top-ranked golfer, signed an agreement to design a course for The Cliffs Communities Inc that will be located just east of Asheville.

Woods launched his design company in November 2006 and his first project is a course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that’s scheduled to open in 2009.

The Cliffs Communities has high-end residential properties in North and South Carolina that feature five golf courses and two more currently under construction. The company will hold a news conference on Tuesday to announce its partnership with Woods on a new development called ‘The Cliffs at High Carolina’.
