Tiger happy to break major tournament routine at Firestone

TIGER WOODS insists he has no worries about breaking his habit of not playing a tournament in the week before a major.

Woods will begin the defence of his WGC Bridgestone Invitational title at Firestone Country Club in Akron today, then travel straight to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the USPGA Championship, the year’s final major.

The world number one normally takes the week off before a major championship but changes to the PGA Tour schedule mean there are two big tournaments back to back and Woods was not prepared to sit out one of his favourite events, which he has won five times in eight years.
