Jacquelin dreams of place in Ryder Cup

RAPHAEL Jacquelin is hoping his victory in the BMW Asian Open will provide the catalyst for even greater success this season.

Jacquelin triumphed by two shots from Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen with a 10-under-par score of 278, despite posting a final round of 73 at a wet and windy Tomson Shanghai Pudong GC on Sunday.

The 32-year-old is now hoping his second career title on the European Tour will edge him a step closer to his goal of playing regularly in golf’s top events.

“My ambition for the year was to play the majors and get some world ranking points, and maybe this win will help me,” said Jacquelin.

“I have been trying to get into the top 50 for five years to play all the world events and the majors. I was 105th going into this week so I will move up a little bit.

“The Ryder Cup is also a dream and if I keep playing like this I will have a chance at that also.

“But it is too early to speak about it. I want to focus on this year and then we’ll see".
