Golf club safe for now from airport expansion plans

FEARS that some of the lush Shannon Golf Club fairways might be sacrificed to make way for increased car parking at Shannon Airport have been allayed.

A huge expansion of the main car park is going ahead, but tarmacadam won’t be rolled out on the golf course. The extension will be located near the airport’s control tower.

There were fears that the airport authority would have to extend the car park boundary into the course, which it owns.
