Turner in final qualifier

MUSKERRY’S Niall Turner has gained a place in the final ‘local’ qualifier for the British Open Championship at Hoylake, Royal Liverpool on July 20/23.

The qualifier takes place today and tomorrow at Conwy in Caernarvonshire and Turner gained his place by virtue of a one under par 71 in the Irish Region qualifier at Baltray last week in which he finished fourth behind St Margaret’s professional John Kelly, who scored 68.

David Hill of Australia was second on 70 and Mark O’Sullivan, Galway, was third, also on 70.
