Nicklaus bows out on high note

JACK NICKLAUS spoke yesterday about “one of the most significant and memorable honours I’ve had in my career” - and his target for his Open farewell in two weeks’ time.

The honour is that his face is being put on a Scottish banknote. The note is expected to be unveiled at St Andrews and Nicklaus commented: “It’s very, very special. Only the Queen and the Queen Mother have been on there as living people.

“I’m very, very flattered and it’s hard for me to say anything other than it’s a great honour.”
