Ryan Palmer came from five shots behind with a magnificent 62 to earn his maiden PGA Tour tournament victory at the Funai Classic on Sunday.

The 28-year-old rookie from Texas made 10 birdies and did not drop any shots in the day’s best round at the Disney World course.

Palmer finished at 22-under 266, three shots ahead of Briny Baird, who carded a 70, and defending champion and world number one Vijay Singh, who shot a 67. He picked up £420,000 to jump from 91st to 37th on this year’s money list.
