Cork shoot new record to retain title

MUNSTER champions and holders, Cork, gave a fantastic display, shooting 368 gross, 64 under par, a new record, to retain the All Ireland Inter County Pitch and Putt Championship at Glenville, Co Dublin, yesterday.

Dublin were runners up with 378.

Cork's best player was Kieran Dunscombe, who returned a brilliant 88 gross, 20 under for the 36 hole event.

Derek Courtney of Dublin and Glenville shot a record score of 84 gross, 24 under par, to win the best individual award.

Leinster champions Dublin returned a fine score of 406, 24 under par, to win the Ladies Championship. Holders Kildare were runners up on 420 gross with Munster Champions, Cork, third on 436. All Ireland ladies stokeplay champion, Geraldine Ward, Dublin, returned a great 99 gross, 10 under par to lead the new champions to a record 19th championship win and for herself a record 11 winning appearances.
