I’ll come good sooner or later

I KNOW people will find this hard to believe, but I forgot my disappointment at missing the cut at the Open in Troon as soon as I hit the first ball on the practice ground on Saturday.

The neck injury caused problems in my swing, the timing wasn’t there, but I’m quite happy that it will be okay. I was straight into the next tournament which very happily is the Irish Open at Baltray this week. I’m ready for it and looking forward to the whole thing, staying at home and helicoptering up each day.

I was down until I hit that first shot. I had a lot of chances to be involved at the weekend. I had a lot of sitting-on-the-lip putts. I wasn’t all that disappointed because I wasn’t capable of winning the way I was playing.
