Fixing Faxon to miss PGA Tour season
Faxon, who injured his knee early in the 2004 season, has played with the injury for almost two years.
“I am disappointed to have to end my season, but my knee has been bothering me for the better part of the year,” said Faxon.
“My ultimate goal is to play in the Major championships next year and to qualify for the 2006 Ryder Cup, and by having surgery now I can strive to meet this goal. I look forward to the 2006 season.”
Faxon, a native of Rhode Island, recently won the Buick Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut - his eighth PGA Tour victory but first since the 2001 Sony Open in Hawaii.
He is enjoying a solid season and is 27th on the money list and 58th in the World Golf Rankings.
