WORLD number five Retief Goosen scorched to a course-record 64 on the opening day of the Asian Tour’s Volkswagen Masters - China event at the Jinghua Golf Club in Beijing.

The South African carded two eagles and five birdies to lead by two strokes from Canadian Darren Griff and Australian Gary Simpson.

US Open champion Michael Campbell and Scotland’s John Wither are a shot further back.
