Langer wants to play on

BERNHARD Langer has revealed he intends to take part in the next Ryder Cup - as a player. The German's successor as captain of the European team for 2006 will be announced on Wednesday on the eve of the Desert Classic.

Langer, however, still has ambitions of his own.

"I would love to play another time," he said.

"At the same time I realise it would be difficult to achieve that. I would then be 49 and we have a lot of great young players.

"It will be difficult to make the team outright but nevertheless I believe I can do it.

"I will give it my best shot. I have a very competitive nature - I love to play under pressure."
