Lyle in the running for captaincy of next Ryder Cup team

FORMER British Open champion Sandy Lyle has thrown his hat into the ring for the captaincy of the next European Ryder Cup team.

Bernhard Langer is expected to step down after he led Europe and defeated the USA by a record 18 1/2 to 9 1/2 at Oakland Hills.

Cup hero Colin Montgomerie is tipped as one of the possible successors as well as Thomas Bjorn.
