Easy win for Tramore in Cup semi-final

TRAMORE were easy winners over Cork in the first semi-final of the Irish Senior Cup, Munster section at Dungarvan last evening.

Easy win for Tramore in Cup semi-final

Tramore won 3½ to 1½ in a game which had to be postponed from Sunday because of torrential rain. The other semi-final between Castletroy and Killarney will be played this evening at Mallow.

The Cork team started well when Mark Ford beat former Irish international and senior selector Michael Burns by one hole. The Tramore man, although striking the ball well, was very much out of touch on the putting green.

His son Derek Burns was more successful when he beat James O'Mahony by 2 and 1 in a match in which the Tramore man was always in front.

The key match, however, was that in which John Mitchell beat Stephen Hackett on the last green. They were all square playing the 18th where Mitchell reached the green with two great shots and had two putts for his birdie.
