Irish boys team captain Kieran Burke from Derry expressed delight at his side’s performance in gaining a 12.5 to 7.5 point win over Wales in the annual challenge at Cardigan last week.

“It was a very good team display,” he said, “and we are looking forward to the team-of- six championship in Finland next July and to the Home International series.” Ronan O’Connor, The Island, - aided by a hole-in-one at the 6th - emerged with a 100% record in the singles and foursomes competition and the other team members were: Aaron O’Callaghan, Douglas, David Daly, Muskerry, Seamus Power, West Waterford, Nicky Grant, Clandeboye, Rory McIlroy, Holywood, Karl Gilbert, Malone and Niall Kearney, Royal Dublin. Cian McNamara of Limerick was unable to travel.
