Midleton GAA Club retain title

INSPIRED by Cork All-Ireland hurling medallist Ger Manley, Midleton GAA Club successfully defended their title when the Munster final of the FBD All-Ireland Golf Challenge wasdecided at the Dundrum Golf and County Club.

The Cork side finished level with Grange, Fermoy on 86 points but secured the laurels with 44 on the back nine. Third place on 83 pts went to Boherlahan/Dualla led by Tipperary hurler Conor Gleeson while Cashel King Cormacs scored 81 pts to claim fourth spot.

Midleton fielded the same team that gained the FBD All-Ireland Golf Challenge title last year - Ger Manley, Vincent Reddy, Muiris Quirke and Padraig O'Brien. They will defend their crown against teams from Leinster, Connacht and Ulster at Faithlegg Hotel and Golf Club, Waterford on September 18 and 19. The FBD Challenge is organised by members of Dunhill GAA Club and is supported by the Irish Examiner.
