US Ryder Cup team captain Hal Sutton says he wants to face the strongest European team possible at Oakland Hills this September.

European team selection policy has come under fire recently over the ruling which requires players to participate at least 11 European Tour events to qualify for consideration. The policy threatens to exclude top US-based European players like Jesper Parnevik, fellow Swede Mathias Gronberg and Englishman Luke Donald, a situation entangling team captain Bernhard Langer which could leave his opposite number Sutton in a position to sit back and rub his hands at the mess.

But Sutton, at the Buick Classic in Westchester, New York, this week to work for ABC television, said: "I don't know that that's to our benefit because I want to play the best team they can put out there.
