Stars doubtful for Seve Trophy

Two of Europe’s biggest stars have told Jose Maria Olazabal they may not be available for next month’s Seve Trophy at The Wynward in Co Durham.

Olazabal has taken over from Seve Ballesteros as captain of the Continental Europe team against a Britain and Ireland side led by Colin Montgomerie.

But the Spaniard, one of Europe’s top hopes for the US PGA this week after his third-placed finish in the Open, may well have to do without Sergio Garcia and Bernhard Langer.

“Sergio told me he most probably won’t be available because he’s playing in America and when I spoke to Bernhard yesterday he said there’s a question mark too,” stated Olazabal.
