Colin Montgomerie ended his Open challenge in disappointing fashion with a final round 75.

Monty shot five bogeys and a birdie to end on 13-over par at Muirfield.

The Scot parred the first six holes in much more hospitable conditions, but the sign of things to come arrived at the seventh.

Montgomerie bogeyed the par three and then failed to pick up a birdie at the generous par five ninth.
